Student Recital Info

The June Recitals are just around the corner! Our students are working really hard to get ready! We look forward to a positive and rewarding experience for each of our students. Listed below is all of the important information for the performers and their parents. Please read all of this information so that you will have a smooth recital day experience.

WHEN IS THE RECITAL?
Sunday, June 3, 2018 and/or Sunday, June 10, 2018.

WHAT DAY & TIME DO I PERFORM?
You choose your day & time by signing up at the bottom of this page.  Sign-ups OPEN on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. and CLOSE on SUNDAY May 6, 2018 at 10:00 p.m.

WHAT TIME DO I ARRIVE?
30 minutes prior to your performance time. If you perform at 2 p.m., arrive at 1:30 p.m., etc.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
Each recital lasts approximately 1 hour.*  It is designed as a convenience to parents. So we have many shorter sets rather than one or two long recitals.
*Please do not leave during the 1-hour set. As a courtesy to all of the performers,
please watch the entire program as we want every student to have the same amount of respect from the audience.

WHERE IS IT?
Once again this year we will hold the recitals at Step by Step Dance Studio (next door to the music school)!

WHAT TO WEAR? DRESS TO IMPRESS! WEAR YOUR BEST!
Ladies: Blue jeans or other denim are unacceptable. Blouses should not be too revealing - any visible midriff or lower back is unacceptable.
Tennis shoes or athletic shoes are unacceptable. No hats, flip- flops, high slits, or shorts. No gum chewing.

Gents: Blue jeans are unacceptable. No tennis shoes, athletic shoes, or boots. Vans and similar shoes are unacceptable.
No hats, flip-flops, or shorts. No gum chewing.

WHAT DO WE BRING?
1. Your sheet music if you use it.  2. Guitarists and bassists, bring your guitars and basses. We will provide amps and cables for you.
3. Drummers, bring your sticks. 4. Vocalists and pianists only need to bring their music and or lyrics if needed.

CAN WE TAKE PICTURES AND VIDEO?
We are going to have a professional photographer at the recitals this year. Please do not take pictures while the students are performing as it may distract them.
You are welcome to take photos from your seats as they take their bow, before and after they perform. But please DO NOT leave your seat or stand up to take photos.
You may be blocking the view of the professional photographer.

IS THERE AN ADMISSION CHARGE?
The recital is free and open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend. Admission is FREE but we will be accepting donations for True Friends Animal Welfare Center, which is a No-Kill animal shelter.

SIBLINGS
For your convenience, you should sign up all siblings in the same 1-hour program.

*ACCOMPANISTS FOR VOICE STUDENTS
There are no participation fees, except for voice students who need an accompanist.  If you know a pianist that could play for you, you may bring that person to accompany you. Please let your teacher know if this is the case. If you are in need of an accompanist, we can provide a professional accompanist for a nominal fee.

Please be aware that typically accompanist fees can range up to $100 per hour. SMA is fortunate to have pianists who will provide their services at an extremely reasonable fee of $25.00 per student for a rehearsal and the showcase. Voice students will be responsible for paying the $25 fee directly to the accompanist at the time of the rehearsal.  Since your teacher will be at your rehearsal, this will count as one of your lessons.

ADMISSION...  Admission is FREE for family and friends but we will be accepting donations for True Friends Animal Welfare Center, which is a No-Kill animal shelter.
