About Our Teachers...

At the Scranton Music Academy, no matter which teacher you take lessons with, you'll be getting a teacher who will help you reach your musical goals.

Our teachers bring to SMA, diverse and accomplished backgrounds in performance, teaching and education. We have 31 music teachers, all with either university training and/or professional performance experience.

All of our teachers at Scranton Music Academy have a University Music Degree or have many years of professional performing experience.

Some have graduated from the excellent music programs in our local colleges, such as Marywood University, Baptist Bible College, Wilkes University, Mansfield University and SUNY Binghamton.

Others have attended some of the nations top music schools including Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory, Westminster Choir College, Eastman School of Music, Curtis School of Music, University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music and Temple University.

The combined teaching experience of our teachers is unparalleled in the Northeast Pennsylvania area.

Their teaching experience includes teaching private lessons in addition to teaching in public and private schools and in colleges.

Our teachers belong to many professional organizations including PMEA, Music Educators National Conference, Music Teachers National Association, and Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Unlike the old saying "those who can't do, teach"... our teachers are all performing musicians.

Their performing experience is vast. Some of our teachers may be seen performing in all of the local music hot spots, others may be seen singing or playing in local churches.

Our teachers have performed with the NEPA Philharmonic, Binghamton Symphony, Berks Sinfonietta, Allentown Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic, and in Carnegie Hall.

SMA educators have a wide range of musical interests from classical to pop, to jazz and blue grass.

All teachers who work for SMA must pass a criminal background check.

You may rest assured that you, or your children, are in the most competent hands while taking lessons at Scranton Music Academy. See all the details of our "5 Point Family Safety Plan" on our homepage.
